When Friend of The Show Sarah O. went to her local grocery store, she was hit with reminders of the "2-headed Monster" (← That, by the way, is bar-none the WORST PhotoShop you'll ever see. Seriously. That's a terrible wallpaper for a terrible nickname. Unless that was specially made by someone under 18, it's embarrassing that the Pens have that up on their official website.):
Friend of The Show Lorissa sent in lots of great stuff for the Round 3 Pep Rally. First, she sent in this screenshot from Friday's Pirates game. (The Bucs fell to the Colorado Rockies 1-3.) You may recognize a few faces in the stands:
Next up, she sent in this nice article about Siddo's playoff surge. It's chock full of info about how much this year has tested him, how members of the media and the league alike have questioned whether he was worthy of all the hype, and how he is driven only by one 34½ pound silver trophy, so I couldn't pick which paragraph to post here. Instead, I chose two memorable quotes. First, one from Geno...
"No, Sid's the best (at handling pressure)," he said. "He's our leader. We go where he goes."...and the second from Capitals' netminder Simeon Varmalov:
"For what he did this series," Varlamov told Washington reporters of Crosby, "they should build a monument for him."Indeed. :)
Okay. I know I caught a bit of flack the last time I shared my enthusiasm for something non-hockey related on The Show, and I promised I would never do it again, but I can't NOT post this. French astrophotographer Thierry Legault used a 13 cm telescope and camera that took a series of 16 images of 1/8000th of second each to get an amazing shot of the Space Shuttle Atlantis and the Hubble Space Telescope as they passed in front of the sun just minutes before the crew of Atlantis caught up with and captured Hubble for its very last servicing mission on May 13, 2009.
When you realize what this photograph is and think about how Legault had literally only one chance to get it, it really leaves you speechless. His website is full of other amazing photos of the heavens above. All his work is stunning, but I think my favorite is the super-high resolution photo of the full moon. It's breathtaking. Check out his Best Of collection here.
I always end TSCS Pep Rallies with an mp3 download, and today I've got a double dose for you. Ever since I learned how to grab the audio from YouTube videos and edit it to small sections, I've been obsessed with getting the Mike Lange calls. And I couldn't decide which one I liked better, so I decided to give them both to you:
If you missed any from the previous two rounds: [ Download mp3 files from previous Pep Rallies ]
Thanks so much to Sarah and Lorissa for helping with today's post. :) Tomorrow, we go STORM CHASING!!!
GO PENS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
